IS YOUR PRESSURE TANK WATER LOGGED?

7/1/2018

Pressure tanks that are not operating correctly cause your well pump to turn on and off more frequently. This causes extra wear and tear on your pump, which shortens its lifespan.

Does your well pump kick on, every time, as soon as you use water? Are you noticing your water pressure surging/fluctuating between stronger and weaker? First thing to check is your water filter and make sure that it’s clean and doesn’t need to be changed. If that is not the problem, it could very likely be your pressure tank: it may be water logged.

Sometimes the pressure tank can simply be re-pressurized, but sometimes it needs to be replaced.

Great tip about how water pressure can surge. I need to get a water well replacement accessory. I'll have to consider getting a plumber to do the installment.

A waterlogged pressure tank on your well system leads to pump motor burnout, so you need to correct the problem and fast. Thanks for these tips!

The fluctuating water pressure may affect whether or not your water treatment system can adequately backwash. A specific flow rate is required by every water treatment equipment to raise and clean the media inside. This flow rate can be slowed down by a soggy storage tank and a short-cycling pump, which prevents your water treatment system's equipment from getting completely clean and results in poor water quality within your home.
